In the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence, Adobe is set to make waves with its upcoming generative AI video tools. These innovative features promise to transform the way we create and edit videos, making the process more accessible and efficient than ever before. Let’s dive into the exciting developments Adobe has in store for us.
Text-to-Video: A New Era of Video Creation
Adobe’s new text-to-video feature is a game-changer. With this tool, users can generate video clips simply by typing a description. Imagine the possibilities: from creating quick clips for social media to enhancing presentations with dynamic visuals, the applications are endless.
The generated videos are not just static; they come with adjustable camera controls. Users can simulate different camera angles, motion, and shooting distances, adding a layer of customisation that brings the videos to life. This level of control is a significant step forward in AI-generated content, offering creators the flexibility to match their vision precisely.
Image-to-Video: Bridging the Gap
In addition to text-to-video, Adobe is introducing an image-to-video feature. This tool can generate video clips using specific reference images, making it ideal for creating additional B-roll footage or patching gaps in production timelines. For content creators, this means less time spent on reshoots and more time dedicated to creative work.
The quality of the generated videos is impressive, rivalling what we’ve seen from OpenAI’s Sora model. However, there is a catch: the videos produced by these features have a maximum length of five seconds. While this might seem limiting, it’s important to remember that these tools are still in their early stages, and improvements are likely on the horizon.
Commercially Safe and Integrated
One of the standout advantages of Adobe’s Firefly model is its commitment to being “commercially safe.” Trained on openly licensed, public domain, and Adobe Stock content, Firefly aims to reduce concerns about copyright infringement. This is a crucial consideration for professionals who need to ensure their work is legally sound.
The text-to-video and image-to-video features will initially be available in beta as a standalone Firefly application. However, Adobe plans to integrate these tools into its Creative Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Adobe Express applications, making them accessible to a wide range of users.
Generative Extend: Stretching the Limits
Adobe is also introducing the “Generative Extend” feature for Premiere Pro. This tool can extend the length of existing video footage, similar to Photoshop’s Generative Expand tool for image backgrounds. For video editors, this means more flexibility in post-production, allowing them to fill in gaps or extend scenes seamlessly.
The Future of Video Editing
These upcoming tools from Adobe represent a significant leap forward in video creation and editing. They promise to streamline workflows, enhance creativity, and open up new possibilities for content creators. Whether you’re a professional video editor or a casual creator, these tools are set to make your life easier and your work more impactful. By typing a vivid description, you can bring a scene to life in a way that was previously only possible with extensive filming and editing.

Adobe’s Firefly Video Model: A Game Changer
Adobe recently announced the public distribution of its AI model, the Firefly Video Model. This cutting-edge technology generates videos from simple text prompts. Imagine typing a description of a scene, and the AI brings it to life! This innovation puts Adobe in direct competition with industry leaders like OpenAI’s Sora, ByteDance (TikTok’s owner), and Meta Platforms, all of which have recently unveiled their video tools.
Legal and Practical Advantages
Adobe stands out by focusing on two critical aspects: legal usability and practicality. The company trains its models on data it has the rights to use. This ensures that the generated content can be legally used in commercial projects, a significant advantage for creators.
Moreover, Adobe aims to make its tools practical for everyday use. Ely Greenfield, Adobe’s chief technology officer for digital media, emphasised this commitment. He stated, “We really focus on fine-grain control, teaching the model the concepts that video editors and videographers use – things like camera position, camera angle, camera motion.” This makes the AI-generated footage blend seamlessly with conventional footage, enhancing the final product’s quality.
Industry Applications and Success Stories
While Adobe hasn’t announced customers for its video tools yet, prominent brands are already using its AI image generation models. Gatorade, owned by PepsiCo, employs Adobe’s technology for a site where customers can order custom-made bottles. Additionally, Mattel uses Adobe tools to design packaging for its iconic Barbie line. These success stories highlight the real-world applications and potential of Adobe’s AI innovations.
The Future of AI in Asia’s Creative Industry

ChatGPT Canvas: The Future of AI Collaboration is Here!
ChatGPT Canvas revolutionises AI collaboration with real-time editing and inline feedback, making it easier to create and refine projects with AI.

TL;DR:
- OpenAI launches ChatGPT Canvas, a new AI-first text and code editor.
- Canvas allows users to collaborate with AI on projects in real-time.
- Initially available to Plus and Team subscribers, with Enterprise and Education users getting access soon.
The Dawn of a New AI Era
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the way we work, and OpenAI’s latest innovation, ChatGPT Canvas, is set to revolutionise collaboration. This new AI-first text and code editor allows users to work side by side with AI on projects, making it easier to create and refine ideas.
What is ChatGPT Canvas?
ChatGPT Canvas is more than just a new user interface; it’s a game-changer in AI collaboration. OpenAI describes it as a “new way of working together” with ChatGPT. It’s designed to help users make small revisions or change specific elements without losing the flow of their work.
Key Features of ChatGPT Canvas
- AI-First Interface: Canvas is an AI-first text and code editor that lets you adapt any single element or the whole project with the help of AI.
- Real-Time Collaboration: It allows you and ChatGPT to collaborate on a project in real-time, making it easier to create and refine ideas.
- Targeted Edits: The model knows when to open a canvas, make targeted edits, and fully rewrite. It also understands broader context to provide precise feedback and suggestions.
- Inline Feedback: Like a copy editor or code reviewer, it can give inline feedback and suggestions with the entire project in mind.
- Writing Controls: There will be a series of writing controls in a pop-out menu on the side, including options to adjust the length of the text and adapt the reading level.
How Does ChatGPT Canvas Work?
Canvas will be available through a new option in the model dropdown menu, labeled “ChatGPT 4o with Canvas”. When selected, it opens in a separate window, allowing you and ChatGPT to collaborate on a project. During a demo, I saw it take live data from an AI web search and adapt pieces of text from across a long article to reflect the new data — all from a single prompt.
The Future of AI Collaboration
ChatGPT Canvas represents a paradigm shift in how we collaborate with artificial intelligence. It’s a way to work on a project with AI as a partner rather than having it do all the work and then editing it later. This new way of working together is set to make AI collaboration more efficient and effective.
“A key challenge was defining when to trigger a canvas. We taught the model to open a canvas for prompts like ‘Write a blog post about the history of coffee beans’ while avoiding over-triggering for general Q&A tasks like ‘Help me cook a new recipe for dinner.’,” – OpenAI
Who Can Access ChatGPT Canvas?
ChatGPT Canvas is initially available to Plus and Team subscribers from today, with Enterprise and Education users getting access next week. This early beta version presents a “new way of working together” with ChatGPT by creating and refining ideas side by side.
What’s Next for ChatGPT Canvas?
OpenAI says this is just an initial beta release and that there are plans for rapid upgrades over the coming months. While they didn’t go into detail, I suspect this will include the addition of DALL-E images, more editing features, and potentially the ability to load multiple Canvas elements in a single chat thread.
The Impact of ChatGPT Canvas on the Tech Industry
ChatGPT Canvas is a mixture of several popular AI products, including Anthropic’s Claude Artifacts, Cursor AI, and existing platforms like Google Docs — but with an OpenAI spin. It’s a significant improvement when it comes to making small revisions or changing specific elements, tasks that can get confusing or lose the flow when using the chat interface.
