Unleashing the Power of Copilot in PowerPoint

Ever struggled to create a PowerPoint presentation? Meet your new best friend, Copilot. This AI tool can help you generate entire presentations, add slides, and much more in just minutes. Let’s dive into how you can use Copilot to revolutionise your PowerPoint experience.

Getting Started with Copilot in PowerPoint

To use Copilot in PowerPoint, you’ll need two subscriptions. First, a Microsoft 365 subscription, which costs £6.99 a month. Second, a Copilot Pro subscription, which costs £20 per month. Once you’ve purchased these, you should see the “Copilot” button on the Home tab in PowerPoint. If not, update your Microsoft 365 license by heading to File > Account and clicking “Update License” in the Product Information section.

Creating a Full Presentation with One Prompt

Copilot can create an entire presentation with just one prompt. Use the syntax: Create a presentation about [Topic]. Replace [Topic] with your desired subject. Want more specific slides? Expand your prompt: Include slides about [Sub Topic 1], [Sub Topic 2], [Sub Topic 3].

For example, I created a presentation about doomscrolling using this prompt: Create a presentation about doomscrolling. Include slides about what it is, its origin, why we do it, and how to stop it. Copilot generated a complete presentation, text and images included, in moments.

Adding Slides and Images with Copilot

Need to add more slides? Use the syntax: Add a slide about [Topic]. For instance, in a presentation about mindful meditation, I added a slide about noticing thoughts without judgement by typing: Add a slide about noticing thoughts without passing judgment.

Copilot can even help organise your presentation. Type: Organize this presentation. Copilot will suggest a new slide order based on its understanding of the content. You can accept or reject these changes as you see fit.

Rationale: Why Use Copilot?

Copilot can significantly boost your productivity. It’s not just for PowerPoint; you can use it in other Microsoft 365 apps too. Whether you’re writing documents in Word or doing calculations in Excel, Copilot can help you work more efficiently.
